Young Artists Learn to Incorporate Aesthetics and Meaning
Granite Oaks Middle School Students Exhibit at the Blue Line Gallery

ROSEVILLE, Calif., October 22, 2009—The Blue Line Gallery will open an exhibit in November featuring the artwork of high achieving middle school students from Granite Oaks Middle School in Rocklin.

Student work in the exhibit shows the students’ classroom exploration of the Principles of Design, each through a unique theme.  A National Blue Ribbon School, Granite Oaks offers two levels of art electives to its 7th and 8th grade students. “In Art One we help students explore the Elements of Art—line, shape, form, space, value, texture and color,” said Miranda Lema, art teacher at the school and curator for the exhibit. “Art Two students investigate how to organize these elements into aesthetically pleasing and conceptually meaningful works using the Principles of Design—balance, unity, contrast, rhythm, movement and emphasis.”  This exhibit showcases the work of students in Art Two.

The public is invited to celebrate with the artists at a public reception on November 21, 6:30-9pm during 3rd Saturday Art Walk. The exhibit will continue through January 8.
